National Parks and State Parks In Southern UtahSouthern Utah is home some beautiful scenery and some of the Southwest's most famous destinations. Cedar Breaks National Monument Is located on Cedar Mountain and provides mountain top views all the way into Nevada. This area is the best place to see deer and elk on our mountain. Summer evening drives through the monument you can often see large bucks and bulls with their herds. Zions and Bryce Canyon National Parks are some of the most famous attactions that Southern Utah has to offer. Most tourists travel through Zions which is about 20 minutes outside of St George, and then travel an hour north to Bryce. Bryce Canyon has some great trails for hikers of all skill level. Bryce Canyon has similar rock formations to Cedar Breaks National Monument but there is more usable space and ameneties at Bryce. Zion National Park is home to world Famous Subway which is a river carved slot canyon of world renown beauty. Angels Landing is another very popular hike at Zions. there are lots of Mountain Biking trails all over Cedar Mountain as well. Most local gas stations and outfitters on the mountain have maps for hiking, biking, and atvs. If you continue past Bryce Canyon you will encounter the Grand Staircase National Monument, Arches and Canyonlands, Boulder Mountain, and Lake Powell. One of the beautiful sights in this area is Calf Creek Falls pictured to the right. It is a 3 mile hike one way through a nice canyon with a little trout stream running through it. At the end is a gorgeous waterfall and pool. In the summer months this is a great place to cool off after a long hike. Southern Utah is home to some Excellent State Parks as well. Just minutes outside of St George and Hurricane there are 3 lakes designated as State Parks - Sand Hollow, Quail Creek Reservoir, and Gunlock Reservoir. All offer excellent bass, trout, and sun fish fishing, as well as waterskiiing, and excellent boating in the warmer months. Sand Hollow has excellent Sand Dunes for atving. Snow Canyon State Park is just north of St George near Tuacahn and is another beautiful area to hike and explore. Lake Powell is just over two hours from St George and offers some of the worlds best sandstone views, and incredible water skiing, beaches, jet skiing, and boating anywhere. And the most popular of all, The Grand Canyon is within a few hours from the areas where we sell real estate. One of the great things about having property and living in this area is all the places within an hour or so from the Cedar Mountain area. The landscapes are very diverse here ranging from desert to high alpine and there is always a place to find serenity.
